This is Emma Lue’s story, a brutally honest account of her life described in candid detail. In spite of poverty, sexual abuse, physical assault, her father’s alcoholism, and a dysfunctional childhood, Emma Derrick managed to stay focused and follow her dreams, travelling abroad, attending college when she could, and eventually graduating from Oklahoma University with a Masters Degree in Human Relations. As each chapter unfolds, even through the lowest of times, it becomes apparent that the only constant in Emma’s life is her family. Today, she continues to reinvent herself. She lives in Illinois and spends a great deal of time with her grandchildren. Emma is also an advocate for families with developmentally disabled children.
